Mexico will take on Cameroon in a friendly fixture at Snapdragon Stadium in California on Saturday night. El Tri are heading into the match on the back of a comprehensive 2-0 win against Guatemala in the mid-week, while Cameroon’s previous action was back in March when they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Namibia in the Africa Cup of Nation’s qualification game. Meanwhile, Diego Cocca’s men are set to face USA in next week’s CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals and will be looking to wrap up up their preparations on a high note.

Mexico put two goals past Guatemala on Wednesday night at Estadio de Mazatian thanks to Raul Jimenez’s 14th-minute penalty kick and an 80th-minute effort by Roberto de la Rosa. This followed a 1-1 draw against United States on April 20, Jesus Ferreira canceling out Uriel Antuna’s 55th-minute opener at University of Phoenix Stadium. El Tri are currently unbeaten in their last six outings, recording four wins and two draws since their disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar, where the North American nation failed to progress to the knockout stage for the first time since 1978. In order to get over their World Cup disappointment, Mexico will be aiming to secure the the Gold Cup, starting later this month.
Cameroon, on the other hand, head into Saturday’s game bidding to gather momentum before returning to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later in September. Indomitable Lions have not made a great start to the qualification campaign, picking up four points from three games to be sitting at the second spot in Group C. Rigobert Song’s men secured a 1-0 win over Burundi in last June’s qualifying opener, but after that there has be a down fall for the five time continental champions. Cameroon have picked up just one points from their last two matches in Group C, playing out a 1-1 draw with Namibia on March 24, four days before a 1-1 defeat to the Brave Warriors in the second group double-header. Meanwhile, Cameroon had a memorable World Cup campaign, defeating Brazil 1-0 in their final group-match to finish third in Group G.
