Jack Grealish edging closer to joining Manchester City: reports

As per the reports coming in Jack Grealish will join Manchester City from Aston Villa for a British record deal word GBP 100 million.

Jack Grealish is edging closer to joining Manchester City from Aston Villa. As per multiple news reports coming in, the deal is worth GBP 100 million, which will be a British record. The midfielder has returned to training along with his team mates at a West London location. But the transfer is expected to go through in the coming days. It will possibly will be completed before City’s Community Shield match against Leicester City at Wembley. The 25-year-old playmaker is touted as one of the most exciting prospects in world football right now.

Grealish is believed to have held discussions with the Aston Villa Chief’s this week. But there is growing awareness that the Englishman will depart from Villa Park.

Therefore Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is already looking for options in the transfer market. They are also keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.

Chelsea are willing to sell Abraham for GBP 40 million. The forward hasn’t been the first choice striker since the arrival of head coach Thomas Tuchel. And therefore the 23-year-old is likely to look for other options.

Life after Jack Grealish for Villa

Villa have already brought in Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City for a club record fee that could rise up to GBP 38 million. Meanwhile, Leon Bailey has also joined Aston Villa from Bayern Leverkusen for GBP 23 million and Ashley Young is coming back to Villa park after 10 years.

The 36-year-old wing back left Villa to join Manchester United and then went to Serie A winners Inter Milan in 2020.

Grealish had an impressive last season for the English Premier League club as he helped them to 11th place finish in the Premier League. He scored 6 goals and provided 12 assists in his 26 Premier League appearances.

And even though the attacking midfielder wasn’t fully fit during the start of Euro 2020, he was still included in England’s squad by head coach Gareth Southgate and played a pivotal role in their run to the final, where the Three Lions were beaten by Italy.
