Inter have struggled in the Serie A this term, having collected 51 points from 30 games, to be sitting at the fifth spot in the standings, 24 points adrift of the leaders. Benfica, on the other hand, are sitting at the summit of the Portuguese top flight standings, having pocketed 71 points from 28 games, four clear of the chasing pack. Roger Schmidt’s side have lost only four league-games this term and their latest defeat came on Saturday against Chaves courtesy of Issah Abbas’ lone goal four minutes into the injury time. The result extended their losing streak to three game across all competitions. Meanwhile, the Eagles have never advanced to the last four of the Champions League under its current name. On a positive note, Benfica have gone unbeaten in each of their last seven Champions League sway games.
