Hull began their 2023-24 campaign with back-to-back defeats against Norwich City and Doncaster in the Championship and EFL Cup respectively. Since then, the Tigers have not tasted defeat, recording three wins and a draw from their last four outings in the second tier. Liam Rosenior’s side got the better of 2016 Premier League winners Leicester last time out courtesy of Manchester City loanee Liam Delap’s lone goal inside the opening 15 minutes. Hull produced a defensive master class at King Power Stadium, restricting the Foxes to just a solitary effort of target in the entire 90 minute of play. Meanwhile, it was also their first clean sheet of the season but they now face a different test against Coventry.
Coventry are also heading into the match on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in the second tier, recording one win and three draws in the period. After the dominant 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on August 12, the Sky Blues played out three successive draws against the likes of Swansea City, Sunderland and Watford. Mark Robins’s side thrice came from behind to earn a point against the Hornets last time out thanks to goals from Milan Van Ewijk and Matt Godden either side of Wesley Hoedt’s 64th-minute own goal. Coventry, who had narrowly missed out on promotion last term courtesy losing the playoff-final against Luton, will be desperate to get back to winning ways and move to the top six.
Hull City probable starting lineup: Ingram, Coyle, Jones, Greaves, Vinagre, Slater, Seri, Delap, Tufan, Twine, Connolly
Coventry City probable starting lineup: Wilson, Thomas, McFadzean, Latibeaudiere, Van Ewijk, Eccles, Sheaf, Bidwell, Ayari, Godden, Wright
