Getafe will host Villarreal in a La Liga fixture at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday evening. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 301 defeat at Girona in a league fixture last Monday. Villarreal, meanwhile, secured a 2-0 victory over Hajduk Split in the second leg of their Europa Conference League qualifying playoff three days later. The Yellow submarine has won both their league games so far to be sitting at the second spot in the La Liga Santander. Getafe, on the other hand, are yet to open their account and are languishing at the bottom of the table.

Getafe began their season with a 3-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid before losing to Girona last Monday. The White and Reds opened the scoring through Christian Stuani before Domingos Duarte’s own goal doubled the lead and then Valentin Castellanos netted their third of the night. Getafe pulled one back through Enes Unal and finished the game with a man-less as Fabrizio Angilleri received a red card.
Villarreal, meanwhile, secured a seventh place finish last term and have begun the new campaign on a positive note, registering convincing victories against Real Valladolid (3-0) and Atletico Madrid (2-0). Against Diego Simeone’s side, Villarreal netted twice through Yeremy Pino and Gerard Moreno and secured all three points. Meanwhile in their recent outing against Hajduk Split, Unai Emery’s side opened the scoring through Alfonso Pedraza before Samuel Chukwueze doubled the lead to secure a 6-2 aggregate victory and progress to the group stages of the Europa Conference League.

Getafe midfielder Angileri won’t be available for Sunday’s game following the red card he received in their previous outing. Meanwhile Damian Suarez is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Unal is likely to partener Mayoral up front with Arambarri and Maksimovic pulling the strings in the midfield. As for Villarreal, full-back Alberto Moreno is out with a long-term knee injury, while attacker arnaut Danjuma is nursing a muscular problem. G Moreno is expected to lead the line with Pino in support.
