Fulham will begin their preparations for the 2023-24 season with a pre-season friendly against Brentford at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday. The Bees, meanwhile, are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Borham Wood in their pre-season opener on July 13. Both sides had an impressive 2022-23 Premier League campaign, with the Whites claiming tenth spot in the standings, having collected 59 points from 38 games, while Thomas Frank’s men finished one place above the Cottagers, separated by seven points.

Fulham, who had returned to the Premier League last season courtesy of winning the 2021-22 Championship title, had an impressive campaign under the stewardship of Marco Silva, securing a mid-table finish in the English top tier standings. Meanwhile, the Cottagers are yet to play a friendly this summer, but they have now travelled to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series. The Lillywhites have four friendlies lined up against the likes of Brentford, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Hoffenheim before beginning their 2023-24 Premier League campaign against Everton on August 12. Meanwhile, head coach Silva and star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic have been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Fulham are yet to make a signing this summer and it would be fair to say the club are making headlines for off-the-field matters.

Brentford, on the other hand, also enjoyed a stunning 2022-23 Premier League season, claiming ninth spot in the table, finishing just two points adrift of the top seven. The Bees ended their previous league campaign with three consecutive wins against the likes of West Ham United, Tottenham and Manchester City. On their return to action for the pre-season on July 12, Frank’s side were held to a draw by Boreham Wood despite taking the lead through Halil Dervisoglu’s 19th-minute effort. The Bees will face Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion in USA before returning to England for their final friendly of the summer against Lille on August 5. Brentford will begin their Premier League season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on August 13.
