Entering this World Cup, there were not many expectations surrounding the prospect of the Three Lions going deep into the competition. It was largely down to their poor Nations League outing. Placed in League A Group 3, which was regarded by many as the group of death, England could only manage three points from six matches. However, they put that disappointment behind them to trounce Iran 6-2 in the opener. Meanwhile, the USA were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Wales. Besides, they are also in the middle of a four-match winless run.

England vs USA: Records, Stats & Goals

These two countries have played each other on quite a few occasions in the past, with the contest producing some memorable results. Out of the 11 matches played between them, England have won eight times, while the USA tasted success twice. Only one game between them ended in a draw and that was famously in the 2010 World Cup. A goalkeeping howler by Robert Green allowed the Americans to draw level as the group match ended 1-1. They also faced each other in the 1950 World Cup when the USA won 1-0. Notably, England had beaten the USA 10-0 in a 1964 friendly, while the last time these two countries faced each other was in a 2018 friendly which was won by the Three Lions 3-0.
