Both sides are coming after taking part in their leagues over the weekend. Djurgarden lost 0-4 to Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan (i.e. the Swedish League) Round of 16. Djurgarden has won the league twelve times and the cup five times. On the other hand, Luzern secured a 0-0 draw against Winterthur in the ongoing Switzerland Super League Round 1. Luzern has won the national title once and the national cup three times.
Now both teams will compete in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League Qualifications. It will be the Quarter-finals match. Whichever team wins the competition will go on to compete with Hibernian or Inter Escaldes.
Talking about injury updates, Djurgarden will be without the services of their defenders Elliot Kack & Pierre Bengstsson. Kack is out due to a knee injury. While there is no update on the injury of Bengstsson. Both players are expected to return to the main squad in mid-August. However, things are not so good in the camp of the visitors. Luzern has four major injury concerns. They have two of their midfielders, Leny Meyer and Lorik Emini injured. Meyer and Emini both have muscle injuries. The next major concern is that they have their forwards also injured. Dejan Sorgic and Thibault Klidje both are injured due to a back injury and a meniscus injury. Sorgic is out for the season, while Klidje is expected to return in Mid-August. Emini’s return is unknown as of now. However, Meyer will join the squad shortly.
