The Brewers are going to participate in their sixth friendly of the season. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbanik’s side are yet to register a win this summer, losing to Hibernian (4-2), Stratford Town (2-1), Nottingham Forest (1-0), Birmingham (2-1) and Brackley Town (2-1). Burton have made some new signings to bolster their squad, bringing in midfielder Calum Butcher, Davies Keillor-Dunn, Victor Adeboyejo. After the game against Sheffield United, the Brewers will begin their new Football League One campaign against Wycombe on July 30.
Sheffield United, on the other hand, have won two of their three friendlies so far, beginning with a 2-1 win at Casa Pia, losing to Scunthorpe 3-2 and then defeating Mansfield Town. Paul Heckingbottom’s side will also take on Barnsley next Saturday, before beginning their 2022-23 Championship season away to Watford. The Blades have managed to keep the core of their squad together so far this summer, while also making some new signings to bolster the team. Anel Ahmedhodzic, Tommy Doyle and Ciaran Clark have joined the club.
Burton centre-back Sam Hughes, who has recovered from an ACL injury he suffered last season is itching to return to the field and could get some game time against the Blades. Hassebanik used 18 players in the recent outing and is expected to rotate his squad again on Friday, in order to build the fitness of the team. New arrival Adeboyejo is expected to start up front alongside Moult. As for Sheffield, Doyle is sidelined with a thigh injury, while goalkeeper Adam Davies remains doubtful because of a knee problem. Sander Berge could pull the strings from the midfield with Ndiaye and Brewster playing up front.
