AC Milan will kickoff their 2023-24 campaign with Serie A fixture away to Bologna at Renato Dall’Ara on Monday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Cesena in the Coppa Italia tie last weekend, while Milan defeated Novara 4-2 in their final pre-season friendly. Rossoblu had an impressive Italian top flight season last term, claiming ninth position, having collected 54 points from 38 league-games, and they will be hoping to challenge for a European qualification this time around. The visitors, on the other hand, failed to defend their league-title last season, finishing fourth in the standings, with 70 points to their name, 20 points adrift of champions Napoli.

Bologna had a disappointing pre-season, recording just one win from their four friendlies this summer, while losing two matches in the period. Nevertheless, the Red and Blues started their competitive season on a positive note, putting two goals past Cesena without reply in the Coppa Italia first round clash last weekend. Thiago Mota’s side took an early lead through Tommaso Corazza’s second-minute effort before Joshua Zirkzee doubled the lead ten minutes from time. Meanwhile Marko Arnautovic has left the club to join Inter Milan, where he once had a brief stay earlier.
AC Milan, on the other hand, had a mixed pre-season, recording four wins and as many defeats from eight friendlies this summer. Milan ended their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign with a 4-2 victory over Novara thanks to goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Noak Okafor, Davide Calabria and Lorenzo Colombo. Meanwhile, Rossoneri have made six permanent signings during this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Musah Yunus, Chukwueze, Okafor Noah, Rejinders Tijjani and Christian Pulisic.
Bologna probable starting lineup: Skorupski, Posch, Beukema, Bonifazi, Corazza, Dominguez, Aebischer, Orsolini, Ferguson, Ndoye, Zirkzee
AC Milan probable starting lineup: Maignan, Kalulu, Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez, Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Reijnders, Pulisic, Giroud, Leao
