Argentina will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the World Cup qualification when they travel to La Paz for Tuesday’s encounter against Bolivia. The expanded 48-team World Cup in 2026 presents an opportunity for La Verde to reach the finals for only the third time in their history. Bolivia are aiming to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1994. But La Verde have made the worst possible start to their Qualification campaign, losing 5-1 to Brazil courtesy of braces from Rodrygo and Neymar in addition to Raphinha’s second-half effort. Meanwhile, Victor Abergo’s 78th-minute effort offered little consolation to Gustavo Costas’ side. The result extended Bolivia’s winless run to four games in all competitions, recording three defeats in the period. Argentina, on the other hand, got the better of Ecuador at Buenos Aires last time out thanks to Lionel Messi’s stunning free-kick goal in the 78th-minute. The magical strike took the 36-year-old’s international goal tally 104 and the Inter Miami superstar is showing no signs of slowing down despite winning every major title up for grabs both in the club and international stage. Since the thrilling penalty shootout victory over France in the World Cup final in December, Lionel Scaloni’s side have recorded six successive wins, five of them were friendlies, scoring 14 goals and conceding none in the process. Therefore, La Albiceleste will be confident of continuing their fine run of form on Tuesday.
