Barcelona are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Mallorca in a La Liga fixture on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski’s 20th-minute strike helped the Catalan outfit register their seventh victory in eight league games this season and remain at the top spot of the Spanish top flight standings. Meanwhile, the Catalan outfit started off their Champions League campaign with a dominant 5-1 win over Viktoria Plzen before losing to Bayern Munich and Inter with a 2-0 scoreline.
Inter Milan, on the other hand, kicked off their European campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Bayern, before getting the better of Plzen and Barcelona. The Italian outfit entered the clash with Barcelona last week off the back of successive Serie A defeats to Udinese and Roma, but a resilient performance allowed them to take all three points. After that, Simone Inzaghi’s side got the better of Sassuolo 2-1, away from home, to get back to winning ways in Italian top flight football. Edin Dzeko netted a brace at Stadio Citta del Tricolore to secure the win. Nerazzurri are currently occupying seventh position in Serie A standings, having pocketed 15 points from nine games.
