Klagenfurt didn’t have a great start to their pre-season, losing 4-1 to Osijek on June 25 before playing out a goalless draw against Hartberg a week later. However, Peter Pacult’s side got their acts together to thrash lower league side Admira Dornbirn in the Austria Cup fixture last Friday. Seven different players got on the score-sheet for the Austria Bundesliga outfit. Klagenfurt will also take on LASK next Saturday, before hosting Rapid Wien in their new domestic league campaign on July 31.
Southampton on the other hand, after the game against Klagenfurt, will play Watford, Monaco and Villarreal before their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on August 6. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side had a disappointing start to their pre-season, losing to RB Leipzig. Adam Armstrong managed to cancel out Angelino’s opener but goals from Emil Forsbeg and Ilaix Moriba helped the German outfit secure victory.
Klagfenfurt didn’t have any fresh injury concerns, therefore Pacult could opt for a strong starting eleven. The 62-year-old tactician likes to deploy a 3-4-3 formation with Wernitzing, Pink and Jaritz forming the three-man attack. Rieder and Straudi could be the two wing-backs with Cvetko and Moreira forming the midfield duo.
