The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Nice on September 18, while Marseille played out a 1-1 draw against Rennes on the same day. The victory helped Angers to move to 14th position, having collected eight points from as many games, while the visitors are sitting at the second spot with 20 points, just two adrift of leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Angers got the better of Nice courtesy of Nabil Bentaleb’s lone-goal in the 43rd minute. It was a fiercely contested encounter as both sides finished the match with 10 men. Nice defender Jean-clair Todibo was sent off inside the opening 10seconds, while the visitors also finished the match with a man-less as Sofiane Boufal was given marching orders in the 62nd minute for two bookable offences. Meanwhile, it was the Black and Whites’ second consecutive victory after losing four of their opening six league games of the season.
Marseille, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to their Ligue 1 campaign, having won six of their opening eight games thus far, while drawing the remaining two. In their last outing against Rennes, midfielder Matteo Guendouzi scored at both ends to share the spoils. PSG and Marseille are two of the only three sides in the French top division yet to lose this season, the other being Lens. Meanwhile the Olympians’ last trip to the Stade Raymond Kopa, and their most recent meeting with Angers in February ended in a dominant 5-2 win.

Angers midfielder Boufal, will be available for Friday’s game despite receiving a red card against Nice, because the ex-Southampton man’s second yellow card for devising was rescinded after review. Meanwhile, Ulrick Eneme-Ella is sidelined with a knee injury. Sima is expected to lead the line with Ounahi, Hunou and Boufal in support. As for Marseille, Alexis Sanchez would spearhead the attack with Guendouzi and Gerson in support.
