After qualifying for the playoffs, Almere City overcame a one goal deficit to defeat Eindhoven FC 3-2 in the two legged first round of the playoffs. And then, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their second round playoff, Soulaiman Allouch canceled out Lance Duijvestijn opener to send the tie to penalties, where Nordin Bakker made three crucial saves to send the Black Sheep into the final. Alex Pastoor’s men are now unbeaten in five of their last six games across all competitions but have managed to keep only one clean sheet in the process. Meanwhile, Almere City are aiming to earn promotion to the Eredevisie for the first time ever.
Emmen, on the other hand, secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Breda at De Oude Meerdijk on Saturday thanks to second half efforts from Richairo Zivkovic and Jasin-Amin Assehnoun, to complete a 4-1 aggregate triumph over the Eerste Divisie side. It was the Kannibals’ second consecutive victory following a four-game losing streak prior to the first leg of semi-final playoff. Meanwhile, Almere’s most recent success over Breda was their third away-win from their last ten matches on the road, and they will be searching for successive wins on the road for the first time since July, 2022.
