Two sides locked on seven points from their opening seven matches of the 2023-24 La Liga season will be up against each other on Sunday afternoon, as Alaves play host to Osasuna at Mendizorroza. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Celta Vigo in the mid-week, while Los Rojillos were beaten 2-0 by Atletico Madrid last time out. Meanwhile, the visitors have prevailed in each of their last three league-encounters against the Blue and Whites, scoring four goals and conceding none in the process.

Alaves, who earned promotion to the Spanish top flight via the Segunda Division playoffs last term have made a decent start to their top flight campaign, recording two wins, four defeats and a draw from their opening seven league-games. Their last win came against Valencia (1-0) at the start of September thanks to Cenk Ozkacar’s own goal inside the opening six minutes. However, the Glorious One couldn’t build on that success, losing back-to-back games against Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao before sharing the spoils away to Celta. Alaves earned a point against the Sky Blues thanks to Samu Omorodion’s 73rd-minute equaliser. Luis Garcia’s side might be disappointed at not taking all three points at Balaidos, having played the final 20 minutes of the match with a man advantage, attempting 21 shots with 11 of them on target, while restricting the hosts to zero efforts on target.
Osasuna, on the other hand, had an excellent La Liga season last term, finishing seventh in the table, but they have struggled to get going this time around, only collecting seven points from their seven matches to sit in 14th position. Los Rojillos started the season wit two wins from their opening three league-games, but then suffered a drastic dip, going on a five game winless run across all competitions, losing three outings in the period. Jagoba Arrasate’s side suffered their fourth top flight defeat of the season against Atletico on Wednesday night courtesy of Antoine Griezmann’s 20th-minute opener and Rodrigo Riquelme’s effort nine minutes from time. Meanwhile, on a positive note, Osasuna have won six of their last seven encounters against Alaves in all competitions.
Alaves probable starting lineup: Sivera, Gorosabel, Marin, Sedlar, Lopez, Guridi, Guevara, Sola, Hagi, Rioja, Samu
Osasuna probable starting lineup: Fernandez, Areso, Catena, D Garcia, Cruz, Ibanez, Torro, Oroz, Barja, Budimir, Raul Garcia
