Alaves took on Eibar in the semi-finals of the playoff, drawing the first leg 1-1 before securing a 2-0 win on home soil to progress to the final. Abde Rebbach and Asier Villaibre netted for the Blue and Whites in the second leg at Mendizorroza on Thursday night. The result extended their unbeaten run to six games, drawing four fixtures in the period. The Glorious One can take confidence from the fact that they are unbeaten in the last 11 fixtures at Mendizorroza, recording seven wins and as many clean sheets in the process.
Levante, on the other hand, finished level on points with second-places Las Palamas and missed out on automatic promotion by goal-difference, with Las Palmas boasting a +20 record to Levante’s +16. Nevertheless, the Frogs demolished Albacete in the semi-final playoff tie, securing a 3-1 victory in the first leg, before thrashing Clockwork Cheese 3-0 in the home-leg at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. Roger Brugue scored a first-half brace before Roberto Soldado’s later effort completed the drubbing for Granota in front of their own supporters. It was their fourth successive victory and the result extended Javier Calleja’s side’s unbeaten run to five matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding just four in the period.
