Al Ain, a team that has won the UAE Pro League 14 times, is aiming for their second continental title. They haven’t had much success in the AFC Champions League since their win in 2003, reaching the finals only twice, in 2005 and 2016. In the group stages of this season’s tournament, they did well, finishing on top with 15 points out of 18. They faced Nasaf in the round of 16 and won 2-1 in the second leg after a goalless first leg. Now, they’re up against Al Nassr from the Saudi Pro League. Al Nassr is aiming for their first-ever AFC Champions League title, having only been runners-up once, in 1995. They started by beating Shabab Al-Ahli 4-2 in the playoff round and then finished on top of Group E undefeated, with four wins and two draws. In the round of 16, they comfortably defeated Al Feiha. Under coach Luis Castro, they haven’t lost a match in the AFC Champions League this season, winning three and drawing one away from home. However, a recent 4-4 draw against Al-Hazem in the Saudi Pro League was disappointing for them, as it affected their position in the title race.
