Left-back Kostas Tsimikas has revealed the mindset of the Liverpool squad when they approach a match. He asserted that every player within the team will give everything they can to contribute towards the team’s success. Fresh from winning the Carabao Cup on Sunday, Liverpool had a chance to progress through in another cup competition. Manager Jurgen Klopp made 10 changes to his line-up for the 2-1 win over Norwich City in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Wednesday night. Takumi Minamino netted twice in the first half to secure the win and ensure their place in the quarter-final draw.

Tsimikas told Liverpoolfc.com: “Taki’s an unbelievable player, in my opinion. We saw every player, no matter when he will play, will be ready – this is 100 per cent sure. We are hungry for that. We will play for the win, we give everything. No matter who is playing, this is our mentality, this is our team spirit. We go for it no matter who is playing. You have to give everything for the win.”

“Liverpool is, for me, the best club in the world. Whenever I play, I give absolutely everything. Whenever they give me the chance, I want to be the best player – I think it’s the same for all the boys. The crowd was unbelievable, you enjoy playing in front of them. We can say a big thanks because once more it was a full stadium and we made them happy with this win.”

Tsimikas: All the boys gave absolutely everything

Tsimikas added: “It was very, very tough for us, a very intense game. All the boys gave absolutely everything. I want to say congratulations to all the boys. We deserved this win, we are very happy and we wait to play the next game with the same passion. For this team, every competition is very important. We go for it no matter if we play in the Carabao Cup or FA Cup. We play for the same goal, hungry to win the trophy. Every player who played [against Norwich] gave everything and we went for it.”

Meanwhile, manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on Takumi Minamino following his impressive performance on Wednesday night. “His impression was obvious with scoring two goals and not only that – he had a lot more top, top football moments. He was a constant threat tonight, he was mobile, he was quick. He was technically on an incredibly high level; it was really windy tonight and when you then saw how he controlled the balls when he had to bring down the high balls, that was all really, really, really good. I’m not surprised, I know how good he is and tonight he showed it to the public again, which is absolutely great,” Klopp added.
