Chelsea, who are winless in four Premier League games, host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday aiming to get back to winning ways. The Blues are currently third in the points table, eight points clear of fifth placed Spurs but Antonio Conte’s side have played four games less, having seen a number of games postponed. Chelsea’s hopes of a title-challenge suffered a huge blow after suffering a 1-0 loss against Manchester City before sharing points at Brighton in the last match. Thomas Tuchel’s side has won just one of their last seven league games, picking up just three points from their last four matches.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night, leaving them 12 points behind leader Manchester City. Hakim Ziyech had put the visitors ahead in the first half before Adam Webster equalised after the break to share the spoils. Meanwhile Tuchel’s side have already beaten Spurs twice this month, recording a 2-0 win in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge before winning the reverse fixture in North London 1-0 courtesy of Antonio Rudiger’s goal.

Tottenham were involved in an enthralling contest against Leicester City on Wednesday. Conte’s side were losing 2-1 until the 95th minute of the match before substitute Steven Bergwijn scored two goals in the space of 80 seconds to secure a win from the jaws of defeat for the Spurs. It was Spurs’ third win in their last four league games and they are unbeaten in England’s top flight under Conte, who took charge of the club in November.

Team news

Chelsea are boosted by the news that Trevor Chalobah and Reece James have both returned to training but won’t be available for selection this weekend. Meanwhile Andreas Christensen is out with COVID-19 and Edouard Mendy is away attending the Africa Cup of Nationsl. Therefore Kepa will continue between the posts with Thiago Silva and Rudiger in front of him in central defense. Timo Werner and Mateo Kovacic, who were substitutes against Brighton, are pushing for a place in the starting eleven.

As for Spurs, Eric Dier is available for selection after recovering from injury. Lucas Moura is expected to partner Harry Kane up front while midfield five may include both Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp. Bergwijn is expected to be on the bench and is likely to come in at some stage of the match.
