But the Taiwanese duo thrashed them in straight sets (21-18 & 21-12) to take the gold medal. In the process, they became the first unseeded pair to win an Olympic gold in the men’s doubles. Moreover, they became the first to win gold in badminton for Chinese Taipei. Naturally, with the Paris Olympics knocking at the door, the duo will set again on their quest to defend their gold medal.
