Anders Skaarup Rasmussen is a badminton player from Denmark who along with Kim Astrup has taken the lead in the doubles category. In the 2018 European Championships and the 2023 European Games, Rasmussen and Kim Astrup won the men’s doubles championship. Subsequently, he took home a bronze in 2021 and a silver in 2023 from the World Championships. In September 2018, he and Astrup achieved a career-high ranking of World number 5 in the men’s doubles. After Boe & Mogensen, Rasmussen and Astrup have proven to be a worthy successor. Rasmussen and Astrup won their first BWF World Tour Super 1000 title in the China Open in September. The Danish pair defeated the host pair of Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong in the final. This victory propelled them to World No. 5 in the BWF rankings.
Subsequently, Rasmussen and Astrup won bronze at the World Championships in 2021. Although the Danish pair had a great tournament, they faltered against a strong Chinese pairing. The Chinese pair of He Jiting and Tan Qiang defeated the duo in the semi-finals. Later on, Rasmussen competed in the men’s doubles with Kim Astrup at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Subsequently, they were eliminated by the duo of Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen in the quarter-finals. But that was in the past. Currently, in the new season of 2023, they have managed to notch up significant victories. This includes the wonderful run of form in their only second European Games. As the top seed, they prevailed in a close match over the second-seeded British duo of Sean Vendy and Ben Lane. Recently, they won the French Open in 2023 as well.
