Wang Chang is a Chinese badminton player who is the reigning World No. 1 in the men’s doubles category along with his partner Liang Weikaeng. He was the boys’ doubles World Junior champion and two times Asian Junior champion alongside Di Zijian. Wang was part of the Chinese winning team at the 2023 Sudirman Cup. He played a superb and inspiring match together with Liang Weikeng. Recently, the duo even clinched the China Masters Super 750 after a hard-fought win against Satwik and Chirag from India.

Wang started his career in the humble background of Ningbo training centre and made his way to the provincial team in 2015. This was followed by his debut in the national team in 2017. Subsequently,  he started his partnership with Di Zijian in the men’s doubles discipline. Wang perfectly started his debut and clinched the gold medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships and claimed the gold medal in the boys’ doubles event. Subsequently, he participated at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Wang played exceptionally well and not only helped the team to take the Suhandinata Cup but also won the silver medal in the boys’ doubles event. Consequently, he added the boys’ doubles and mixed team titles at the Asia and World Junior Championships. Subsequently, he won a few more titles with Zijian. However, during the pandemic, this partnership started to wither away.

Subsequently, in 2022 Wang forged a new partnership with Liang Weikeng and the duo began their ascent in the badminton world by reaching the finals of the Indonesia Masters. In the next tournament, they reached the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters. This was followed by the Japan Open where Wang paired with Liang and defeated the Danish pairing of Kim and Rasmussen. After a great season, Liang and Wang started the current season with the same energy as well. The duo have won 2 BWF World Tour titles as well as become runners-up in two more. In August, Liang and Wang won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Denmark where they eventually lost to home favourites Kim and Rasmussen. However, the duo bounced back to win both the China Open and China Masters. Now, they are on their journey to reach the BWF Finals and the Paris Olympics.
