Satwik/Chirag’s performance in the tournament and this year

Their record against Asian Games silver medalists Alfian and Ardianto stood evenly balanced at 2-2. However, the Indian duo prevailed over the Indonesians in their two most recent encounters. Despite a sluggish start that saw them trailing in the initial game, the Indians demonstrated commendable resilience and reduced a 10-19 disadvantage by winning six points before ultimately losing the first set.

The second set saw Satwik and Chirag, the Brothers of Destruction, bouncing back as they took an early lead, and eventually earned nine-game points. Despite two unsuccessful attempts, they managed to equalize the match score, owing to a well-placed shot by Chirag that sent the game into the decider. The Indian duo dominated the pace in the final game and advanced their score to 18-12. Despite a spirited response from Alfian, an error handed the Indians seven match points, culminating in a 21-15 win.

Satwik and Chirag’s spectacular victory at the Super 500 marks their third such title, following successes at the Thailand Open in 2019 and the India Open in 2022. The formidable pair had secured their place in the final following a triumphant match against China’s Liang Wie Keng/Wang Chang, winning 21-15, 24-22 in the semifinals. Significantly, the duo hadn’t lost a single set in the BWF Super 500 event until the final.
