The Taipei Open is an open badminton international championship which has been a BWF Super 300 tournament and held regularly in Taiwan.
The Taipei Open is an open badminton international championship held in Taiwan since the 1970s. The tournament is conducted in irregular periods over the years. However, post-1980 they are regularly held, except in 1998, 2001, 2020, and 2021, the latter two due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament is categorised as a BWF grade 300 tournament.
Heading on to the Day 4 of the tournament will see the beginning of the Quarter Finals. On Day 3, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Taipei Open with a straight-game win over Indonesia’s Tommy Sugairto on Thursday. The 30-year-old Indian will now face Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus in the quarter-finals. Parupalli Kashyap, on the other hand, crashed out after losing 16-21, 17-21 in 42 minutes to Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei. India’s mixed doubles duo of Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy were defeated by Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Lin Xiao Min in the second round. Kapoor and Reddy lost by 21-13, 21-18. In the women’s Tanya Hemanth was defeated by the seasoned veteran Tai Tzu Ying. The 29-year-old former World No. 1 will now take on Supanida Katethong. The game promises to be an epic showdown.
