The golden duo of Satwik-Chirag have continued their winning mojo from last year as they storm into the semifinals with straight-set wins over Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in the ongoing 2024 Yonex Sunrise India Open Super 750. The 5th-seeded Indian duo dished out a dominant on-court performance to win the match 21-14, 21-15 in a 34-minute affair.

Satwik-Chirag took a 4-0 lead from which they capitalised on a huge gap from then on. Both Satwik and Chirag played faster as well as better to unsettle the Danes and churn out a positive result for themselves. The Indian duo took an unassailable lead of 11-2 when heading into the mid-game interval.

There was a brief pause in the game due to a brief injury to Chirag Shetty. However, that did not deter the momentum for “SatChi” as they widened the gap even more with the scoreline slowly ticking towards 14-4. It felt like they had an answer to everything that Astrup and Rasmussen were throwing at them. Following this the Danes committed a racket fault to hand over the first game to the world no. 2. Subsequently, the first game ended within 16 minutes and a thrashing win for the Indians.

The Second game started with a 1-1 draw. However, a service fault by Astrup again handed out a 3-1 lead to the Indians. Next, it was the Indians who again shortened the gap courtesy of their own mistake to take the score 2-3. Thereafter, with swift movements and punching blows, Satwik-Chirag took a 3-6 gap. Another thing which was there in the second game was a few good rallies which our Indian boys won effectively and efficiently on most occasions.

Going into the mid-game interval, Satwik and Chirag had 6 straight games with them which also gave them the upper hand in the second game as well. The Score stood at 7-15 and it looks like the match will be over for the Danes under 10 again like the first set. One of the main positives of the game was the relentless way in which both the Indian players attacked as well as defended. Anything which was dished out a touch short or a little bit high was pounced upon by Satwik and Chirag to dominate the front end of the court. In the end, the duo had 10 match points to save which they did very easily.
