Sha’Carri Richardson was born in Dallas, Texas, on March 25, 2000. Richardson was brought up by her aunt and grandmother, Betty Harp. Richardson’s grandmother means everything to her. During the US trials, she went straight to hug her grandmother after winning the women’s 100m sprint. In a heartwarming post-victory scene, she embraced her grandmother, who then kissed her forehead. After winning the 100-meter final at the U.S. Trials, it was revealed on July 1 that Richardson had tested positive for cannabis use, nullifying her victory and disqualifying her from the Olympics.
