Gabrielle Thomas, popularly known as Gabby, is an American sprinter who excels in 100 m and 200 m events. She earned the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after placing third in the 200-meter final. Gabby spearheaded Team USA to a silver medal win in the 4x100m relay, three days later. The season 2022 began with a bang, when she won the 200m in Doha in 21.98 seconds. Gabby recovered late in the season, finishing second in the 200m in the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich. After completing her Neurobiology degree at Harvard, Gabby moved to Austin, Texas, where she now trains full-time. She also pursued a Master’s in Public Health at University of Austin.

Gabby Thomas topped her competition from an early age. Thomas won eleven New England track and field championships while attending Williston-Northampton School in Florence, Massachusetts, including in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, relays, long and triple jumps, and more. Gabby chose to attend Harvard University, just down the Pike, for her collegiate studies.  In 2016, as a freshman, Gabby won four Ivy League championships and came in third in the 200-meter event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The subsequent year, she claimed three additional Ivy League championships and finished third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In a timing of 22.38, a new collegiate record, Gabby won the 200m at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Her first professional season began with a second-place finish in the 300m at the USATF Indoor Championships in 2019.  Her season, however, was cut short by an injury she sustained at the USATF Outdoor Championships that summer. After a curtailed 2020 season of competition because of COVID-19, Gabby turned 2021 into her strongest season to date. Gabby ran away with the 300m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in 35.73, making her the fifth-fastest woman in history. Gabby qualified for the 4x100m relay in Tokyo at the US Olympic Trials that summer after setting a career best of 11.00 in the 100m preliminary rounds and finishing fourth in the final.
