Brooke Andersen was born on August 23, 1995. She is an American thrower who competes in track and field events. She is ranked as the 14th-best thrower of all time in the hammer throw with a personal best of 76.75 m (251 ft 9 in), which she achieved on June 1, 2019, in Rathdrum, Idaho. Brooke has a personal best weight throw of 22.25 meters (72 ft 11 ⁄4 in). Andersen threw the discus and finished ninth in the San Diego Section championship in 2013 while competing at Rancho Buena Vista High School in her hometown of Vista, California. She qualified for the Olympic team in Tokyo thanks to her second-place finish at the 2021 Olympic Trials. She continued on from there to reach the Automatic Qualifier mark and earn a place in the Olympic final. In her first Olympic competition, Andersen managed to place tenth.
At the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2018 and 2019, she placed third, trailing Gwen Berry and DeAnna Price, the fourth- and fifth-best throwers in history, respectively. Her place on the American team for the World Athletics Championships in 2019 is assured thanks to the 2019 ranking. After Berry’s last-round Pan American Games record, both Americans defeated the defending champion, Rosa Rodrguez, to win the silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. Andersen competed for Team USA in the hammer event at the 2018 NACAC Championship. NAU scholar-athlete of the year (2017–2018) Brooke Andersen was selected for the Big Sky Conference student-athlete team for 2018. She competed for Northern Arizona University during her collegiate career and came in second in the hammer event at the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Championships. She also used to throw weights in college. With a throw of 37.27 meters (122 ft 3+1⁄4 inches), Andersen captured the 2013 Avocado West League discus title. Andersen competed in the discus at Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, California, and finished ninth in the San Diego Section finals in 2013.
