The World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23 will be taking place on February 18, 2023, in Bathurst, Australia. 453 top runners from 48 nations will participate in the competition. More than 230 people will compete in the individual senior races, including 134 men and 102 women. While, over 150 participants, including 81 men and 73 women, will participate in the U20 events. There are 15 teams participating in the mixed relay. A few of the best road-running participants will be taking part in the event, including defending champion Joshua Cheptegei, fellow Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo, World 10,000m champion Letesenbet Gidey, Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet, and Eritrea’s Rahel Daniel. Paul Tergat has been selected as the competition’s brand ambassador.
It has been a while since the last edition of the World Cross Country Championships took place. It was an annual thing from 1973 to 2011. Following 2011, it became a biennial event. As a result of COVID-19, the event will occur approximately four years after the last World Championships in Aarhus in 2019. The event will eventually take place in Australia’s Bathurst in 2023 after having been delayed twice. Being a truly global competition is one of the best aspects of the World Cross Country Championships. The three most recent events took place in China, Uganda, and Denmark. While, Australia, Croatia, and the United States are where the next three are located. This means that in six editions, the competition has been held on or will be held on five different continents.

The World Athletics’ YouTube and Facebook platforms will broadcast the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23 in a number of regions (live).
