Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian Contingent Day 2 Results

Olympic Silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu secured India’s first Gold medal in the final of the Women’s 49 kg weighlifting on Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Olympic Silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu secured India’s first Gold medal in the final of the Women’s 49 kg weighlifting on Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2022.  She lifted a total weight of 201 kg (88 kg in Snatch and 113 kg in Clean and Jerk), setting a new Games record in the category. Earlier in the day, Weightlifters Sanket Sargar (55 kg) and Gururaja Poojary (61 kg) clinched a Silver and Bronze medal for India. Indian outplayed Sri Lanka by 5-0 in the mixed team event of badminton.
