The precise date of Sting’s AEW contract’s expiration is still uncertain, however he has entered its final year. The Icon has stated unequivocally that he will finish his illustrious career after his contract expires. Tony Khan recently made comments that provided information about Sting’s future as an AEW roster member. In an April 2023 commercial, Sting announced his comeback to AEW television while also criticizing MJF for his remarks on Darby Allin.

Last AEW Dynamite match

Sting hasn’t competed in an AEW Dynamite match since March 2023, when he teamed with Allin and Orange Cassidy to take on Kip Sabian and The Butcher & The Blade. Tony Khan is probably using Sting as a feature player in these matches. In the most recent AEW Double or Nothing media call, Khan reportedly discussed his plans for Sting, saying that he would keep the icon active as long as he wanted to wrestle. He continued by saying that Sting is a fantastic person and that he contributes significantly to the business in a number of different ways.

Tony khan wants him to stay

After being forced to leave WWE’s in-ring competition over eight years ago, his brief time with All Elite Wrestling has given him the opportunity to pen the final chapter of his career on his own. All In, an AEW event scheduled at Wembley Stadium this summer, has sparked widespread rumors that the 64-year-old may be making one final appearance. Tony Khan disclosed that the Vigilante hasn’t set a retirement date yet but that he would like him to be active for as long as he wishes during the media call prior to Double or Nothing.

‘I am going to try and keep Sting wrestling’

“I am going to try and keep Sting wrestling and active as long as he wants to do it. He hasn’t really given me a set time. He’s mentioned it at times that he’s not going to wrestle forever. Truth be told, I would like Sting to compete as long as he wants. I really think he adds so much to the company and going forward, as we add more TV shows, more presence on TBS and TNT for AEW, having somebody like Sting in the company, such a great star and a great business asset for the company, but also a great person,” Expressed Khan.

When it will be time to hang the boots

The All Elite President promised to make Sting’s farewell performance a must-see event whenever he decides to put up his boots. “We love having him here and I would love for Sting to stay as long as he could. Whenever he does decide that it’s time for his last match, we would definitely want to make it a big event and I think it’s one of, frankly, the biggest moments out there in pro wrestling right now,” Khan added.
