When AEW signed CM Punk last year, they likely grabbed one of the greatest talents in the wrestling industry. Since then, much to the pleasure of the supporters, he has been on an emotional roller coaster inside the company and has continued to have great matches.

The Straight Edge Star’s return has recently sparked speculation. AEW has been debating the move for some time now. Many assumed Punk’s Instagram post labeling Chris Jericho a ‘liar’ had effectively ended his return back to the company. However, the company appears to be going forward with the notion of his comeback. The frequent belief is that CM Punk will return before the huge Wembley show in August.

AEW locker room is in divide due to CM Punk’s return

In the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer verified the rumors of CM Punk’s comeback. He did, however, mention that the concerns between the wrestling veteran and others in the AEW locker room had not been handled. There have been rumors that AEW will premiere a new TV program on Saturday. According to Meltzer, the working concept is to split the rosters between Dynamite and the new program to prevent any conflict.

“The working idea was that the Saturday show would star Punk and that they would split crews to a large degree. History does show that the splitting crews never lasts long, but in this case the idea is to ease the dressing room problems in the sense those who have not made up would be kept on different crews and wouldn’t have to interact with each other.”

What happened with CM Punk and AEW?

AEW’s All Out 2022 pay-per-view was thought to be the last time fans could have gotten to see CM Punk wrestle again. The two-time AEW Champion reclaimed the title during the event, defeating Jon Moxley in the main event to return the belt he had lost only two weeks before. However, he sustained an injury during the fight that would keep him out for an extended length of time and cause him to relinquish the championship.

The AEW All Out 2022 post-show scrum included a press conference with an enraged CM Punk. Punk began by questioning a reporter about their alleged acquaintance with Colt Cabana and then began to rant about the situation between the two guys, which has resulted in legal troubles.

He also started to call out on The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. He said they were the ones who leaked information regarding his legal battle with Cabana and called into question their integrity as AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents.

His final words were targeted at Adam Page in reference to the previously cited statements made throughout this AEW Championship rivalry. He labeled him a “disgrace to this company” and accused him of jeopardizing AEW’s first-ever $1,000,000 gate at Double or Nothing 2022. The press speech stunned the globe, despite his wrath toward his coworkers. He did, however, suggest that if someone had a problem with him, they should go to him to talk about it, which is precisely what was about to happen and what got CM Punk fired by AEW.
