When it comes to Jeff Hardy and his latest DUI conviction, Booker T feels AEW should have “some responsibility to bear.” Hardy was arrested in Volusia County, Florida, yesterday morning for his third DUI in ten years. Booker chimed in on the subject on his “Hall Of Fame” podcast, noting that this occurrence, along with the one with Sunny, who was arrested for vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol, are examples of “how severe addiction truly is.”

Hardy is “one of those men” who has been struggling with difficulties for “quite some time,” according to Booker, who noted that the former WWE Superstar has been upfront about his struggles in the past. However, due to the possibly terrible repercussions, this event made Booker remark, “wow.” He said, “It’s public as far as Jeff Hardy’s struggles with addiction. Man, it’s sad because this is serious … a class three felony, he could face up to five years in prison, and that right there just makes it a little bit different.”

Booker stated, like he did with Sunny, that he does not desire jail time “on anybody,” and he has read comments claiming that “AEW didn’t put the drink in his hand.” But you have to “go back and look at the collection of death-defying dives” that Hardy has “pulled off since being in AEW” for the two-time WWE Hall Of Famer. He said on Hardy’s bumps, “I’m a tell you right there, pain comes along with that. When you got pain, a lot of times you will go and drink, take drugs to numb the pain, therefore, damn it, I just relapsed. Did he try to do it? Probably not, but that’s what people with addiction do.”

Future of Jeff Hardy

The future of Hardy in AEW is currently uncertain, since the business has made no formal statement, but when asked if he wants to see Hardy in the ring again soon, Booker answered, “I hope not.” That was Booker’s statement following Jeff’s most recent WWE exit, which ended in contentious circumstances. Hardy abandoned a live event match just before the end, climbing over the barrier and walking away into the crowd, prompting WWE to demand that he take a drug test and go to rehab.

Matt Hardy has later indicated that the test results were all negative, and he went to work for AEW as a consequence. “It’s not about his wrestling anymore,” Booker T said, but wrestling is “something that is going to be there for him” since “the people adore Jeff Hardy.” Booker understands that the wrestling crowd will “back him up,” so he wants him to concentrate on his health now.
