William Regal, the renowned Englishman, made a brief appearance on NXT programming a little over a month ago, ushering in Ava Raine as the NXT General Manager. However, amidst speculation about Regal’s potential return as a semi-regular presence on NXT TV, recent reports suggest otherwise.
According to Corey Brennan of Fightful Select, there are currently no plans to feature Regal on-screen full-time in any capacity. While plans in the world of wrestling can always shift, it seems that fans hoping for more of the Gentleman Villain on their screens may be disappointed for the time being.
Regal’s journey in the wrestling world has seen its twists and turns. After being released by WWE in January 2022, he found a new home in AEW that March. There, he played a pivotal role in forming the Blackpool Combat Club. However, his tenure with All Elite Wrestling concluded at the end of the year.

In a surprising turn of events, Regal requested his departure from AEW to reunite with his son, Charlie Dempsey, in NXT. His wish was granted, and he returned to WWE in January 2023, assuming the role of Vice President of Global Talent Development. While fans may not see Regal as a regular fixture on NXT TV for now, his contributions behind the scenes continue to shape the future of WWE’s talent development. Though his on-screen presence may be limited, his impact on the wrestling world remains undeniable.
