Former WWE Champion and Irish wrestling phenom Sheamus has been out of action for six months with a shoulder injury but there is talk about him outside of the ring. Sheamus has been holding fans in suspense regarding his future by posting cryptic comments on X (previously Twitter), amid suspicions that his WWE contract may expire later this year.

According to reports, Sheamus signed a new five-year contract with WWE in 2019. This development is seen to be a component of the company’s plan to hold onto talent in the face of All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) rise to prominence. Now, as his contract is about to expire, Sheamus is in the same situation as top players Becky Lynch and Drew McIntyre. While Lynch and McIntyre seem ready for WWE contracts, Sheamus’s future is less assured.

Sheamus Keeps Fans Guessing

Sheamus has been using his X presence to tease fans about what’s coming up for him in the WWE. The Irish powerhouse has sparked curiosity and conjecture with a slew of enigmatic tweets, including one-word replies like “hi” and “bye.” The concerns regarding The Celtic Warrior’s possible future have been sparked by the messages’ lack of context.

As recently as November 2023, Sheamus was promoted by WWE for events. However, there are differing accounts on the extent of his shoulder injury. Some publications emphasize the company’s marketing of his involvement and hint at a possible quick return to WWE television. On the other hand, others argue that the injury might keep him out of commission for longer than expected.

Sheamus’ Recent WWE Appearance

Sheamus made his final appearance in the WWE on “WWE SmackDown” from Toronto, Canada on August 18, 2023. He faced off against Edge in this historic show; Edge eventually decided to join AEW and allow his WWE contract to expire. Sheamus has shown faith in his ability to wrestle for many more years, despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, prompting fans to speculate about what will happen in his next chapter of wrestling.
