Everything is influenced by money. It seemed unthinkable only a few months ago that Cody and Brandi Rhodes, two of the most recognizable faces in All Elite Wrestling, would leave the organization, but it seems that financial issues have forced their separation, which was revealed Monday.

AEW and Cody were unable to come to an agreement on a new contract before Friday, according to Fightful Select, which first reported the issue. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson has subsequently confirmed that the decision was based for budgetary considerations. A roadblock in wage negotiations led to the breakup between Rhodes and Khan.

A three-year AEW deal for Brandi and Cody was due to expire in December of 2021. There had been no contract between them and the promotion since then. AEW’s original belief that they will be re-signed altered towards the conclusion of last week.

The Rhodes are now anticipated to be signed by WWE on lucrative contracts. Despite the fact that nothing has been verified, it is widely assumed that the parties have met to discuss the matter.

Both Brandi and Cody departed WWE in May of 2016 within days of one other, which eventually led to the circumstances that allowed AEW to debut in January of 2019.

What’s next for Cody and Brandy Rhodes?

All Elite Wrestling’s founder and Executive Vice President, Cody Rhodes, surprised the wrestling industry when he refused to sign a new deal with AEW, thereby becoming a free agent. Her husband’s Chief Marketing Officer is likewise an unrestricted employee.

He broke the story first, and Mike Coppinger of ESPN is credited with that. Tony Khan released a statement on social media after the development.

Outside of AEW, the Rhodes family has appeared on TNT/TBS television. They have appeared on Rhodes to the Top, and Cody has served as a judge on Go-Big. Since the launch of AEW in 2019, this would be one of the most significant developments between WWE and AEW.
