WWE held a draw in 2019 in which stars like Braun Strowman and Sasha Banks switched from “Raw” to “SmackDown,” and Randy Orton and Kevin Owens switched from “SmackDown” to “Raw.” As the executive producers heading into this draught, Paul Heyman was in charge of the “Raw” talent, while Eric Bischoff was in charge of the “SmackDown” brand. Bischoff revealed on “83 Weeks” which top talent Paul Heyman passed up on and is now working very closely with in WWE’s most prevalent plot line The Bloodline.

‘I didn’t know Sami Zayn’

“SmackDown was about to debut on FOX Network, which is a very, very big deal,” Bischoff said. “I didn’t know Sami [Zayn], so as we sit down and we’re shuffling the deck and looking at the names on the roster and all of that. Sami was in the category where Paul would say, ‘No, you take him.'”

As a manager for Shinsuke Nakamura and then Cesaro (AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli) in late 2019, Zayn was not a full-time wrestler when he was chosen for “SmackDown,” though. Zayn was not under Bischoff’s management for very long because the WWE Hall of Famer quit his job only a few months after beginning. Bischoff talked about his thoughts on the finest part of working with the man who is now one of WWE’s top personalities, despite his 2019 term not being particularly extensive.

‘I’ll call him a utility guy’

The best thing about working with Sami Zayn, according to Bischoff, was that he was “a utility guy,” despite the fact that they didn’t have much time together with WWE and Zayn in 2019. “The best part of listening to a cat like Sami is the nuggets of gold that you find when you read a little bit between the lines,” Bischoff said. “I love the fact that Sami was one of those, I’ll call him a utility guy.”

Sami’s decision worked out well; he is currently one of the company’s hottest talents and will compete against Roman Reigns for the Absolute WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber.
