Former WWE and WCW superstar Ernest Miller recently provided insights into the backstage encounter between two wrestling icons, Goldberg and Chris Jericho, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

In an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Miller disclosed details of the incident, offering a firsthand account of the encounter and speculating on the role of WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash in the altercation. Miller revealed that during the infamous backstage encounter between Goldberg and Chris Jericho at a WWE event, he sought information from Kevin Nash, the only other person present at the time of the incident. Nash, according to Miller, indicated that Jericho had managed to get Goldberg in a headlock, and despite not explicitly divulging further details, hinted at the intensity of the confrontation.

“I went to ask [Kevin] Nash, who was in there and I said ‘Nash, who won the fight?’ He said ‘Oh man, listen I don’t have nothing to do with that and I ain’t got nothing to say about this fight but I saw the whole fight’ I said ‘What happened?’ And he said ‘I’m not gonna say anything, but let’s just say Jericho got Goldberg in a headlock and Goldberg couldn’t get out.”

“Backstage can get heated man”

Describing the WWE backstage environment as occasionally heated akin to a competitive basketball game, Miller characterized the altercation as a disagreement that escalated into physical contact.

“The backstage can get heated man it’s just like a basketball game when you see two professional teams with guys who play with each other all year and now they’re pushing and shoving each other.”

He emphasized that while it wasn’t a full-fledged fight, both individuals engaged in a brief physical exchange, with Jericho displaying some fortitude in restraining Goldberg. Miller also acknowledged Goldberg’s proficiency in MMA training, reflecting on their past experiences working together in the ring.

“It wasn’t a fight it was just a disagreement and they just tied up and grabbed each other. Jericho was probably lucky that he could hold Goldberg because if Goldberg had gotten loose there would have been some damage, Goldberg does a lot of training with MMA fighters and he and I have worked in the ring before to where he is actually pretty good in his MMA stuff.”

When prompted about Kevin Nash’s potential involvement in escalating the situation, Miller expressed belief in Nash’s ability to instigate and stir up tension, likening him to a captivating antagonist in cowboy movies. He suggested that Nash’s demeanor in the locker room aligned with that of a provocateur, alluding to his skill in sowing discord and adding intrigue to the backstage dynamics.
