What comes to mind when you think about greatness? If you like football, then it’s either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. If you like cricket, then it’s Sachin Tendulkar or Don Bradman. If you like boxing, then it’s Muhammad Ali or Tyson Fury but when it comes to wrestling, there is only one name that resonates with the word ‘great’ and that name is The Rock. From his promo work to his in-ring ability, the ‘Brahma Bull’ has been great in everything he ever did. He rightly named himself, ‘The Great One’ and you can’t argue against that.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has also made his name in the movie industry and is a household name in Hollywood. During his time in the WWE, he gave his fans a lot to cheer for and had his fair share of great moments. In this article, we look back at three of those moments.
The Rock had many great rivalries but his rivalry with John Cena was probably the most interesting and had the whole WWE universe interested. The feud lasted for one full year and what it proved to the fans was that even though it wasn’t the Attitude Era, the Rock could still entertain the fans in ways others didn’t think was possible in the PG era. Their two fights at WrestleMania during which he won the WWE title did not live up to the hype owing to his part-time status but nevertheless, it was one entertaining time period during a rather dull era.
The Rock and Mick Foley go together like fish and water. Both men are genuinely likeable people and their chemistry was off the charts. The Rock was always shown as a single competitor but this was the first time where he was genuinely involved in a tag team. During their time together, they had numerous unforgettable moments including a lot of comedy bits. Rock and Foley went on to win the tag team titles three times (1999, 2000 & 2004).

The People’s Champ took on the Hulkster at WrestleMania 18 in what truly was a crowd electrifier. It was icon vs icon and it basically pitted the greatest star of the 80s (Hulk Hogan) against the greatest star of the 90s (The Rock). The crowd was absolutely insane as two legends went at it as soon as the bell rang. Honestly speaking, what made the match so great was the reaction of the crowd to every move the two superstars made. It truly is the Rock’s best match to this day.
