Following widespread claims that WWE CEO Vince McMahon has dismissed his son Shane, it has been alleged that a WWE superstar who had previously shown an interest in leaving the organization has still been denied a release. Despite his employers not utilizing him on television for Raw or SmackDown, Mustafa Ali continues to publicly beg for his release from the WWE on social media, and the corporation appears to have a convoluted reason why the superstar will not be released from his contract.

As per Fightful Select, WWE still sees “value” in having Mustafa Ali under contract. However, no additional details on what type of value is being referred to are currently available. Mustafa hasn’t been on television since his intense spat with Vince McMahon, and he’s apparently not working on any creative projects in the near future. Furthermore, there is supposedly little, if any, correspondence between the two parties.

We can only conjecture as to why the WWE regards Mustafa Ali as valuable at this moment, notably without an ongoing storyline. Perhaps the corporation has bigger ideas for the wrestler in the future, or perhaps he’ll change his mind on his own. Maybe he’ll get to use the original gimmick, which has been hinted at but never used. It’s possible that having Ali under contract is more valuable than sending another dissatisfied former employee to AEW as a free agent. For the time being, all we know is that, despite Ali’s public wishes, the WWE does not intend to let him depart.

Mustafa Ali Royal Rumble dismissal

Mustafa Ali made headlines prior to the Royal Rumble (which had some scheduling concerns) with a tweet anticipating the event, which was purportedly inspired by a creative pitch from an anonymous star. The celebrity allegedly brought up the possibility of being eliminated by Ali in the Men’s Rumble Match, prompting Ali’s retort on Twitter.

Of course, Mustafa Ali might be used by the WWE if the opportunity arose, but he doesn’t seem interested right now. Of course, this might have been a one-time occurrence, and based on what we know about the Men’s Rumble, it’s likely that the idea was quickly discarded in favor of something different.
