The Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley left WWE last month, and he just discussed his exit. Dudley, a producer for WWE backstage, said in an interview that he thought it was time for him to pursue other interests. D-Von Dudley is happy with his achievements but tries to keep them in perspective. He advises that most tag teams do the same. In a subsequent interview with Steve Fall on “The Ten Count,” the multiple-time tag team champion was questioned about who he thought was the “greatest” tag team of all time.

‘My era will dispute today’s era’

“That’s hard because every era will dispute [the best],” Dudley said. “My era will dispute today’s era because of what we’ve done during that era, and I’m sure 20-30 years from now, whoever is holding the title around now will be claiming to be the greatest tag team in the history of the business … like FTR, Revival. They are claiming that now, which is fine and you have a lot of people that are watching them today that are pretty much agreeing with them, but again, this is their era.”

Avoiding the term “all time”

Because it “all depends on the age you did your job in,” D-Von says he prefers to avoid using the word “all time.” The Rock N’ Roll Express, The Road Warriors, and The Hart Foundation, according to Dudley, all achieved different things than those of D-Von and his colleague Bully Ray’s generation. The Hall of Famer continues to defend his and Bully Ray’s stance as the best tag team despite the fact that the bespectacled tandem based a significant portion of themselves on their own icons, The Road Warriors, and believes that they deserve to be in the discussion.

‘Day One’

D-Von considers Jimmy and Jey Uso, the undefeated WWE Tag Team Champions, to be the best of the current crop. The duo’s decision to rename their 3D finishing maneuver “Day One” and ask for permission before executing it was welcomed, according to the WWE Hall of Famer.

‘Everything has an expiration date’

“Well you know, a friend of mine a once-wise man once said, ‘Everything has an expiration date. Regardless if it’s going so good or not, everything has an expiration date… even jobs. You know, you’re not dealing with a job forever either. You walk away, you get fired or you retire. Everything happens for a reason. There were just certain things and I can’t really get into detail with it. But you know, you would agree to disagree on certain things and that’s what it was. And I think it was just time to move on and to do something else.”

Other ventures

Discussing his other ventures he revealed that “I have a detailing business in Florida. I have a [wrestling] academy, you know, in Winter Park. I thought maybe it was just best that I concentrate on those things, and to move on.”
