It’s sometimes preferable to simply ignore the filth sheets and let events unfold on screen. Despite rumors that Lesnar was meant to pin Cody Rhodes at Backlash, Fightful Select confirmed that everything went according to schedule. Rhodes won the match with a roll-up. There was no “conclusive” winner, therefore this conflict is very unlikely to be over. It would seem obvious for Lesnar to interfere with Rhodes’ attempt to win the recently established world heavyweight championship, which might lead to a rematch at Night of Champions later this month in Saudi Arabia.

Lesnar typically works WWE’s biggest tentpole events, and there isn’t enough time to develop a compelling rivalry for the match with anybody aside from Rhodes. The possibility of a rubber battle at a PLE later this summer would be created by introducing Lesnar vs. Rhodes 2 to the equation and positioning them close to the top of the marquee.

Carlito’s Return pleases WWE

The LWO and Bad Bunny received one of the greatest cheers of the weekend thanks to Carlito, who staged his WWE comeback to defend them from The Judgement Day’s attacks. According to Fightful Select, Carlito has had “many pitches” in recent years considering a comeback, possibly on a permanent basis. But for the time being, his weekend encounter is regarded as a “one-off” appearance.

Carlito’s initial tenure with WWE came to an end in 2010 as a result of a breach of the organization’s wellness policy. Since then, he has continued to be active on the indie circuit, and according to the Fightful report, Carlito seems to have improved his backstage demeanor. The LWO stable has had a great start to its career, but it is unclear if Carlito will stay on for a longer period of time. Carlito would bring an interesting experienced presence to the mix alongside Rey Mysterio.

‘The possibility that it could end up being his last WrestleMania’

Since WrestleMania, Drew McIntyre has not been in any WWE programming, and it is unknown when he will next make an appearance. With a previous WWE champion functioning on “the possibility that it could end up being his last WrestleMania” previously this year, Fightful Select reported that McIntyre and the organization remain far apart in contract extension negotiations. The contract for McIntyre expires in early 2024, several years before WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.

Although McIntyre sat at the apex of the card whilst his comeback to WWE in 2017, the two parties have been unable to come to a new agreement. Recent reports claim that there have been “several perceived miscommunications” involving McIntyre and WWE, with the latter failing to let him know last month to which brand he would be selected. McIntyre has a history of doing well outside of WWE, so he wouldn’t hurt potential bidders if WWE finally decides not to pay his asking price. Both AEW and New Japan would undoubtedly express interest, and McIntyre’s great time in Impact from 2015 to 2017 helped him resurrect his career.
