WWE Hall of Famer Booker T spilled the beans on his argument with Sonya Deville at the Royal Rumble pre-show this past Saturday on his Hall of Fame podcast. Deville has been serving as an on-screen authority figure at the company since last one year with Adam Pearce and has also landed into feud with star fighter Naomi in the past. They were also seen competing in a singles match only last week and the WWE legend has called out Deville for conflict of interest due to her position as authority figure and in-ring performer which puts the company’s administration and values in question.

“She was talking nonsense. I’m just going to call it out. You can’t have it both ways. If I wasn’t on that show, nobody is going to do it and call it as it is and say exactly how it’s supposed to be said. It’s a conflict of interest. How are you going to be calling the shots and getting in the ring at the same time? Me, personally, I know about conflicts of interest – I do it all time (laughs). I’m an expert at it,” Booker T said on Hall of Fame podcast.

“Me and Sonya go way back, all the way back to Tough Enough. She was one of my pupils. So I just want to keep the checks and balances in the right place. I’m not going to go on television and not give the people exactly what they want,” said Booker T.

Booker T has also insisted that it will be befitting for the legendary Rey Mysterio to have a retirement match against his son Dominik. Mysterio and his son are yet to face each other in a singles match and Booker T believes that there will be no better occasion for the father-son duo to come up against each other.

Dominik made his WWE debut at SummerSlam in 2020 against Seth Rollins. He has grown quite consistently since then to become a star of the company following the path charted by his father.

“I can’t buy a series of matches, but one match – and that might be the match where ‘you beat me, I’ll retire.’ And that might be the match he want to be retired with. Can you imagine that? Can you think about that for one moment? You don’t think that’s good? When somebody poses a question like that I’m going to look at it (like) ‘what can we get out of this?,” Booker T said in Hall of Fame podcast.

The WWE Hall of Famer also believes that Mysterio will not be able to continue forever and thus the WrestleMania will be the best stage for him to face his son and handover him over the family legacy.
