Brock Lesnar was defeated by Cody Rhodes in a singles match at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday night.

Rhodes won the match by reversing the F5 and hitting numerous Cross Rhodes. Lesnar clasped hands, hugged, and raised Rhodes’ arm after the match. As previously said, this specific moment was unplanned. This was the conclusion of their enmity after the two had traded victories prior to the trilogy.

Bryan Alvarez stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that despite removing his gloves, Lesnar is not taking an extended break from WWE. Lesnar is scheduled to appear at WWE Fastlane on October 7th, according to Dave Meltzer.

Bryan Alvarez: “Apparently, Brock’s not done. For those of you that thought that perhaps taking off his gloves was the sign of something.”

Dave Meltzer: “Oh No. He’s advertised for Fastlane. So I don’t know if that’s when he returns. He’s not gonna be gone for a little while, is what I was told, but not a long while. Whatever that means.” Story credit F4WOnline.com with an h/t to WrestlingNews.co.

Cody Rhodes had lots of praise for Brock Lesnar

Cody Rhodes gave Brock Lesnar a round of applause after he beat him at WWE SummerSlam and became his new friend. Even though their rivalry turned into a lot of chaos, Lesnar and Rhodes ended their story on a pretty good note by hugging in the ring after their third and final match. Rhodes talks about how “The Beast” is a “freakin’ unicorn” when he thinks back on the three books.

“I don’t want to wrestle Brock Lesnar again, but I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do it and to compete at his level, because, I said this last night, when he’s gone, and I don’t know when that’s going to be, … [but] when he’s gone, I think the world will realize what we’ve got — it’s a freakin’ unicorn that’s just a very unique, once-in-a-lifetime individual,” Rhodes said during the post-SummerSlam press conference.

“And to have that moment at the end, … I thought a lot about Brock, looking at him tonight, and it reminded me of how my dad [Dusty Rhodes] looked at Harley Race, and I thought maybe ‘I’ve got my Harley Race,’ maybe just because there’s nobody tougher than Brock Lesnar. And again, that was a special moment. I’ll know what it really meant in the days to come.”
