Miyu Nagaoka was born on July 25, 1991. She is a Japanese volleyball player who plays for Hisamitsu Springs. She is a left-handed opposite spiker who is renowned for both her quick spikes and high vertical jump. She joined the Japan women’s national volleyball team in 2013 and made her debut in the 2013 Montreux Volley Masters, where she won the “Best Spiker” award. She also served as the team’s lead scorer during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Miyu Nagaoka’s career begins in local leagues at the high school level. She competes for the Japanese youth national teams during this time. In 2007, she wins the Asian and Oceanian Under-17 championship, taking home the MVP honors, and in 2008, she wins the Under-18 Asian and Oceanian Championships. In 2010, two years after her senior international debut, she competed in the Asian Cup.
She wins the Empress Cup, Scudetto, and AVC Club Championships in the 2013–14 season, earning MVP honors; she also won the silver medal at the 2014 World Grand Prix with the national team. She again won the Empress Cup in the subsequent championship, but she lost in the title game while still receiving some individual honors. In the 2015–16 season, she wins again in both the championship and the Empress Cup. In the AVC Club Championships, where she finished in second place, she is recognized as the best hitter. The following championship sees her win the fifth Empress Cup and advances once more to the championship final while once more earning her place in the ideal sextet of the competition.
She moved to Italy on loan for the 2018–19 season, playing in the Serie A1 with Imoco and winning the 2018 Italian Super Cup. Due to a new left knee injury sustained in December 2018, she returned to her home country for rehabilitation. Despite not playing on the field, she is one of the 2018–19 champions. Due to a knee injury, Miyu was unable to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics. She continues her career and returns to the court in 2020 with the help of her family and teammates.
