Eda Erdem is a Turkish professional volleyball player. Since 2008, Eda Erdem has worn jersey number 14 while playing for Fenerbahce. She played for Beşiktaş for 4 years (2004-2008) before joining Fenerbahçe. More than 300 games were played by her for the Turkish national team. Playing for Fenerbahçe, Eda won the 2010 FIVB World Club Championship in Doha, Qatar, and was named Best Server. At the 2011 European League, Eda Erdem’s national team also took home the Best Server prize and the silver medal. She competed for Fenerbahçe at the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar, and helped her team defeat Lancheras de Catao of Puerto Rico 3-0 to win the bronze medal.
In 2000, she joined the junior team of Beşiktaş and started playing volleyball. She didn’t start playing for the senior women’s team of Beşiktaş until she was 16 years old. She moved on from Beşiktaş in 2008 to Fenerbahçe, a bigger organization, where she helped the team win its first-ever national championship in their inaugural campaign. While representing Beşiktas, she won the award for best middle blocker on an individual basis. However, the 2008–2009 championship was just her first team victory—the first of many.
For a while, Erdem led both Fenerbahçe and the women’s national team as their captain. Throughout the 2010s, she played a key role in the rise of the national team. Both the 2019 and 2021 editions of the national team’s tournaments saw them finish in second and third place, respectively. For the past four Euro Volleyball competitions, Eda Erdem has been named the best middle blocker. Aside from numerous other titles and awards at the international level, she also won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the Turkish league. Eda Erdem is renowned for her emotional and resolute playing style, which includes surprising blocks against some of the best spikers in the world and corner spikes against some of the harshest blockers.
Turkish Airlines has chosen Eda Erdem to represent the company’s brand. Turkish Airlines, or Türk Hava Yollar Anonim Ortakl as it is officially known, is the national airline of Turkey. Additionally, she was hired as a brand ambassador by Vestel, an organization that manufactures home and office appliances in Turkey and is made up of 18 businesses with expertise in electronics, large appliances, and information technology.
