Bruno Rezende is a professional volleyball who is currently a part of the Brazil Men’s national volleyball team. He is a Brazilian athlete who won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics as well as two silver medals. From 2005 to 2006, he played for the Brazil U-19 national team. Where starting in 2007, he has been a member of the Brazil team.

His father was a former volleyball coach for Brazil’s men’s national team and an Olympic silver medalist from 1984. When he was a young boy, his parents got divorced. Edson (born 1981), Bruno’s older half-brother, is the product of his mother’s first union with basketball player Éder Mundt Leme. He has a younger half-sister named Luisa from her third marriage. Bruno has two younger half-sisters, Jlia (born in 2002) and Victória (born in 2009), from his father’s second marriage to former volleyball player Fernanda Venturini.

Since his father Bernardino coached the team from 2001 to 2017, Bruno frequently dealt with allegations of nepotism when he first joined the Brazilian national volleyball team. He and his father, however, have vehemently refuted the accusations, and the other players have consistently stood by them, claiming that Bernardino was stricter and more demanding of Bruno because of their familial ties.

Rezende began his professional career with the Brazil youth teams, where he helped the country finish second at the 2005 U20 World Championship. He won the Pan American Games, FIVB World Cup, FIVB World League, and South American Championship in 2007 while competing for the adult team. He competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where Brazil won the silver medal.

Rezende signed as a brand ambassador for a clothing company called Body Work and Asics a Japanese multinational corporation that produces sportswear also signed him as their brand ambassador.
