Bartosz Kamil Kurek is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an opposite spiker for Wolfdogs Nagoya and the Poland national team. Kurek was part of three Olympic teams- London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Added on to this, Kurek won the 2018 World Champion and the 2009 European Champion title. In 2019, he became the first ever volleyball player to be voted the Polish Sports Personality of the Year.
Kurek began his career in a team from Nysa in 2005, where he played alongside his father. He spent the next 3 years playing for a PlusLiga club, ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle. In 2008, he made a move to PGE Skra Belchatow where he became an important player. After the 2011–12 PlusLiga season, Kurek left PGE Skra Bełchatów, and signed a contract with the Russian team, Dynamo Moscow. Subsequently, Kurek moved to Italian club Lube Banca Macerata. In 2015, Kurek signed a contract with Polish club Asseco Resovia. However, in a shocking news Bartosz took a break in 2016 citing physical problems. Kurek’s last two stints in Europe were with Onico Warsaw and Vero Volley Monza. He then headed out to Japan to compete in the V 1 League and play for Wolfdogs Nagoya.
Over the years, Bartosz has become a Polish legend. He has been awarded with Knight’s Cross of Polonia Restituta (2009) and Officer’s Cross of Polonia Restituta (2019). Besides this, he has also won “Best Spiker”, “Best Server” and MVPs on multiple occasions.
