Thailand will be eager to put its recent disappointments behind them when they face South Korea in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League round one clash. In a clash between two Asian sides, both teams will be eager to get the victory to end their recent run of poor results. Thailand started the tournament on an excellent note before losing their way, while South Korea are the only side to not win a single match so far in the competition. Hence, the match on Wednesday will be extremely crucial for both sides to get important points on board.
The recent poor run of results does not show the whole picture of how well Thailand started the tournament. They won four of the opening five games and their only defeat then came against Belgium. However, they lost their last three matches on the bounce and fell down to eight spot in the table. Thailand currently have 12 points from eight games. On the other hand, South Korea are at the foot of the 16-team standings, having collected zero points till now from eight matches.

In the preliminary round, 16 women’s teams will compete in pools of 8 teams under the revised format. During the pool stage, each team plays 12 matches. Eight teams will then advance to the competition’s final knockout round. The Finals will include the seven strongest teams, with the finals host – Turkey – entering the knockout round as the top-placed team. It will consist of eight matches in total – four quarterfinals, two semi-finals, and bronze and gold medal matches.
